Speaking of maps, a new mini-campaign has been added called Honey. It’s a great way to let off some steam if you just want to mindlessly shoot things and it includes some really pretty new maps. Bleak as this may seem, you can rope in some mates to tackle the beasts or enlist the help of the aforementioned bots. That’s right: now you can electrocute endless Lovecraftian horrors until you succumb to your inevitable demise or simply decide to exit once a certain number of waves is reached.

The latest such patch is a real big ‘un, it is, with even more dark delights.Īside from the requisite bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, a new Horde Mode has been added. Support is still going strong, with regular updates adding new content like bots and maps. It was pretty fine, introducing the beloved landmark FPS to a new generation while reminding veterans why they fell in love with it in the first place. This issue is not present on the PS5 by the way.A few months back we saw the release of the Quake remaster. Weird! Switching it back to High fixed it. The only bug I came across was when I switched the Resolution setting (a different option to the actual resolution setting confusingly) from High to Low and thought the game had froze! However, I could still hear the sound effects as I moved the controller so the game had just stopped updating the display for some reason but was running internally. It runs flawlessly on my system at 5120x2880 and 165 FPS on my G-SYNC display with all the new visual enhancements enabled.

This was the first version of Quake I ever played before I picked it up on PC the next year. It even includes the excellent Quake 64 from the Nintendo 64 with its impressive multi-coloured lighting effects.

I enjoyed it that much that I decided to also buy it for my PS5 (it’s a PS4 game though). I think the Nightdive remaster is excellent and had great fun playing it most of the day yesterday on my PC (where it was a free upgrade). The gothic atmosphere and level design were awesome. I love Quake, far more than the generic Sci-Fi themed Quake 2 that followed. Cross-play is available on all platforms, so you can play Quake with everyone Play with friends no matter which platform they prefer. Dimension of the Machine also contains all new deathmatch levels Quake also now includes the extra levels Acrophobia, and The Edge available in deathmatch mode. Play custom matches on player-hosted servers, or hop into matchmaking and play on dedicated servers. AI bots are also available to play against in deathmatch mode Fight against your friends, or with your friends in all five campaigns. Quake includes 4 player split-screen multiplayer on all platforms, in both deathmatch and co-op modes. Our first Add-on is Quake 64, which includes the original alternate soundtrack by acclaimed composer Aubrey Hodges
